Lukes's "Thunder in the Desert 2009"

"Thunder in the Desert" 2009: March 21 and 22: 

Come support our troops at Luke's "Thunder in the Desert" 2009 Open House is a two-day event at Luke Air Force Base and one of the most diverse air shows in America. The U.S. Air Force's Aerial Demonstration Team, the Thunderbirds, will bring their special brand of high-flying excitement to this year's show as well as numerous other aircraft and ground displays, exhibits, and attractions.  It is going to be AWESOME!

General admission to "Thunder in the Desert" is free. No tickets are available for purchase or required for general entry. Off-base parking will be available for a small fee. For more information click here.

Come take the EDGE off with us as we head down the high way.  Here are some rides that we have planned:

Rides in February:
Sat. 7th 8:30 AM Breakfast ride will be to Fountain Hills via Rio Verde Dr.
Sun. 8th 12:45 PM After Worship ride to Bartlett Lake

Sat. 21st 8 AM All DAY RIDE to Wickenburg, Prescott, Jerome, Sedona, Flagstaff & Home.
This ride is NOT for the novice rider. This is a 330 mile round trip. This will be one of the most scenic rides you will be on in AZ.

Sun. 22nd 12:45 PM After Worship Ride to Aguila & back.

14th, 15th, 28th & 29th these rides will include a Breakfast, an After Worship & another All Day Ride. To places will be determined later.

Mad Mud Run Registration

EDGE Men, the MAD MUD RUN is coming to AZ on Saturday, 11/22. Camp Pendleton Mud Run style competition here to Arizona. It is going to be a BLAST! Course is full of belly craws, wall climbing, mud pits and unexpected obstacles & challenges. Your whole team must cross the line together. Our goal is to have over 100 EDGE MEN competing in teams of two or five. So if you are MAD enough and not afraid of a little MUD in your blood, register for the RUN today.  Registration deadline of November 3rd  IT IS FILLING UP FAST! It will sale out and may sale out before the 3rd! Shooting Time Again

Do you like to shoot or would you like to learn?

Shooting time again this Wednesday, 10/22/08. We are shooting at the Ben Avery Practical Pistol Range #C 6:30 to 9pm. Come on out with a friend, relative or neighbor and have a good time. Range fee is $ 8.00 per shooter. Bring your own gun, ammo and targets.

Never shot before and want to learn! Contact Bob Johnson robertjohnson@ccvonline.com  or Howard Treinen at howardtreinen@ccvonline.com and we can make arrangements for safety training, firearms instruction and a loaner gun if you need one.

Directions: Take I-17 north to Carefree Highway exit at the westbound exit. Go west 1 mile from the freeway to the first intersection with a street light. Turn right and continue past the Game & Fish offices. Take the next three right turns and look for the CCV Shooting signs. The practical pistol range will be on your left and we will have signs for you to follow. Call 602-686-9792 if you get turned around and we can talk you in.

MAD MUD RUN: Coming November 22nd to AZ

   EDGE Men, the MAD MUD RUN is coming to AZ on November 22nd.  They are brining a Camp Pendleton Mud Run style competition here to Arizona.  It is going to be a BLAST!  5 miles of belly craws, wall climbing, mud pits and unexpected obstacles.  It is going to be open to 1000 competitors.  Our EDGE goal is to have over 100 EDGE men competing in teams of 2 or 5.  So if you are MAD enough and not afraid of a little MUD in your blood start assembling your team now.  More detailed info and registration will be coming in August.  If you have questions or want to pre-register your team contact dansimpson@ccvonline.com   

Got Sand?

Have you Got Sand in your blood?  Do you have a Rail, Quad, 4x4, Rhino or any other tricked out toy that needs a good sand blasting?  We are putting together a Dunes trip in the fall that is going to be a BLAST!  There will be limited spaces so let me know if you and your family are interested in our first EDGE Family Dunes Trip.  This will be a catered Trip ( that means meals at the dunes encluded).  All you need to do is pack up some water,snacks, cloths, load up the family, toys  and get ready to have a couple days of sand blasting!  Date and location & cost TBD.  Questions contact  Dan Simpson at dansimpson@ccvonline.com

Shooting Time

Then mark your calendars' for Wednesday, August 20, 2008. From 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm CCV Shooting Sports has reserved a handgun range at the Ben Avery shooting facility. This is an outdoor range that is fully lighted but is limited to handguns only, (no rifles or shotguns). Bring a spouse, child or a neighbor and come have a good time. There is a $5.00 range fee per shooter, please bring cash only. Bring your gun(s) ammo and paper targets. The range has target frames and shooting tables.  If you don't have a gunor never shot before and always wanted to learn how. NO PROBLEM!  We will have guns available for you to use. Gun use is $ 6.00 per shooter and covers ammunition. There are a variety of guns to choose from. Again, cash only please.

Bob Johnston is a certified Phoenix Police Department firearms instructor and Howard Treinen is an Arizona Game and Fish Department Hunter Safety instructor.
